A woman works on a laptop with a tablet in a modern home office setup.

If you’re on the fence about starting an online business and you’re unsure whether you will be good at it or if an online business is going to work for you then this post is for you.

And I say that because I want to show you 20 life changing ways of how an online business transformed my life and how it can do the same for you!

Like many others, the COVID-19 pandemic turned my world upside down. I had a thriving wellness business as a Massage Therapist, but when the lockdowns hit, my business was forced to shut down like many others.

What had once seemed secure and untouchable was suddenly halted by something entirely beyond my control. The goals, dreams, and lifestyle I had envisioned for myself no longer felt as solid as they once did.

I suddenly found myself at a crossroads, wondering what to do next. That’s when I decided to pivot and explore the world of online business.

It wasn’t an easy shift, but it was one of the most rewarding decisions I’ve ever made not just financially, but creatively, too.

So now that I am a full-time blogger, a Youtuber, and well… an online entrepreneur. Every day I go to bed with the feeling of gratitude for one more day of my dream life being a reality through having an online business.

So now let me start off this list with the things that I am thankful for. And all of these things are only possible in my life because I started an online business a few years back in 2020.

My 20 Reasons to Start a Blog

1. Getting To Work from Home

So the first thing and the most rewarding reason for me is the ability to work from home. The flexibility to work from home or anywhere I want has brought me so much peace.

No more dealing with having to commute work.

And though I love working with people and my clients that I had. I think working from home is the most rewarding for me because it just felt so much like I was in my element.

I guess I felt so because of my introverted side and the fact that I like to be by myself where I don’t feel alone but enjoy and own company.

I would say I believe this is the main reason why. And, for me, it’s truly a blessing. And I’ll explain more on that in the following pointers of this list as we continue.

2. I Don’t Have to Ask Any Boss for Time Off

Now for me I had already stopped doing this a few years back which was like over 6 years plus because of the fact that I had my own business.

However if I had to find a job again after the pandemic I would of, had to be doing this which was once again having to ask a boss for time off if when I needed to do something personal or visit the doctor or something like that.

And that is something that I always hated doing.

I absolutely hated the fact that that I had to go through the process asking for time off and someone was controlling and dictating my time as to when I go and when I come to be able to do something that was important to me.

So again I am so thankful for my online business for not having to do that again.

3. I Don’t Have To Waste 1 Hours Every Day Commuting to Work

It use to take me 25 minutes each way to get to work everyday– to my office when I had my wellness massage business.

That’s like almost 1 hours a day. And in a week that is almost 6 hours a week. Those are hours I could never get back.

But now, my commute is a short walk to my desk, which means I get to use that extra time for things I actually enjoy.

So just this point alone would be enough for me to consider starting a blog if I were to start it from scratch now.

4. I Don’t Have to Dress Up Every Morning

Let’s face it — dressing up every morning can be exhausting. But because of my online business.

I can work in my comfiest clothes – my pajamas, sweats, or anything that feels comfortable .

No makeup, no high heels — just me and my creativity. And ladies you know for some of us the time we take to get ready to get out the house.

So for me this was something I really love that I don’t have to do anymore. Unless I have to record a Youtube video.

5. I was able to Turn My Skills into a Scalable Business

As a massage therapist, my income was limited to the number of clients I could physically treat in a day.

And having my online business blogging opened up opportunities for scalability—I could create content, courses, or ebooks once and sell them endlessly without being limited by time.

With my blog, there’s no limit to what I can achieve. The harder I work, the more rewards I see.

6. I Don’t Have Anyone to Report To

Being your own boss is one of the best feelings in the world. I get to set my own goals, I get to create my own plans, and I celebrate my own successes.

As my own boss, I answer only to myself. I don’t have anyone breathing down my neck, micromanaging, or questioning my decisions, no unnecessary pressure — just the freedom to work how I want to. And that’s a really rewarding feeling.

7. I Was Able Generate Passive Income and Increase My Income Potential

One of the most life-changing aspects of starting a blog was learning how to create passive income.

Through well-written content, affiliate marketing, and evergreen content, I can earn money while I slept.

Starting my blog has brought me closer to financial independence. It’s allowed me to make money doing what I love, on my terms, while helping others along the way.

I realize more than before that my income and success are entirely in my hands.

And the sky is the limit when it comes to my online income as a blogger. And this is fulfilling beyond words.

8. I Can Switch Between Activities Whenever I Want To

Life is unpredictable, and sometimes I taking a pause or break is all that is needed to regroup to go again.

And this so much more possible to do freely because of my online business. I as such have the flexibility to pause and take a break whenever I feel overwhelmed in any way.

Running my blog gives me the freedom to do this and switch gears anytime I need.

So whether it’s running an errand, taking a quick nap, stopping to pause and do some selfcare, take breaks to cook, clean, sit to brainstorming new ideas or just do something fun I’m in control.

And love that I have that control to switch gears and reset my mind whenever I want.

9. I Can Work Whenever I Feel Creative

Creativity is a big part of being a blogger. And with my blog, I can work when creativity strikes.

Whether it’s early in the morning or late at night, I can harness my creativity when it strikes.

Which is so different from working in a 9-to-5, because in a 9 to 5 you’re expected to work whether you’re inspired or not.

So now I have the freedom to to work on my terms. This flexibility has been a total game-changer.

And I am so thankful for my flexible online business that allows me to choose when I want to work with no restrictions on any given day.

10. I Can Cook and Work at the Same Time

Working from home allows me to be able to do these two things simultaneously.

It’s the best of both worlds. Whether I’m simmering a pot of soup or popping something into the oven I can also be drafting or typing up a blog post in between.

Therefore working from home has allowed me to embrace a healthier, more balanced lifestyle. So in a nutshell, I get more done with my time.

11. I Was Able To Share My Passion For Wellness in Every Time Zone

The beauty of an online business is that the whole world becomes your marketplace.

Even when I couldn’t provide hands-on therapy during the pandemic, I was still passionate about helping others live healthier lives.

And my blog became the platform where I could share wellness tips, self-care routines, business strategies, or spiritual insights and valuable advice, reaching people far beyond my local clients.

I’ve connected with readers from different countries, that I never imagined was possible.

Blogging has allowed me to share what I love with a global audience. I’ve bee able to built a platform that inspire and help others.

12. My Online Business Allowed Me To Create Impact Beyond My Local Area

While I loved serving my local clients as a Massage Therapist, blogging allowed me to reach a global audience.

Now I am able to impact people all over the world with my faith, wellness knowledge and advice. I love it.

13. I Can Do Shopping Outside of Rush Hours

One of the most underrated benefits of working from home is avoiding rush-hour shopping.

And when does everyone who works the 9-5 go shopping? Around the same time after work.

That creates longer lines in the shopping malls, traffic jams and so on. And having an online business have allowed me to avoid doing anything in the rush hours.

I can do my shopping, run errands, or visit the doctor during off-peak hours, saving time and stress.

Traffic jams take so much out of people’s lives adding layers of stress. And we all know that stress leads to health issues which leads to extra medical bills.

So, I thank God for the previledge of being able going shopping at 10am or 11am or anytime in the week I want and not getting caught up in the rush hours.

14. I Can Spend More Quality Time With God In Prayer and Worship Whenever I Want To

Having the freedom to pause my work for prayer, reflection, or reading and meditating on scripture has been wonderful.

Though this was something I was already able to do because I was already working for myself. Having an online business made it so much more flexible for me now.

I no longer have to squeeze time around a schedule anymore.

If I feel to take a week off and just dedicate that to quality time with God I can do that and I do not have to worry or wonder about it. That is the best feeling ever.

15. I Was Able To Find and Discovered My Voice

Before blogging, I never truly realized how powerful my voice could be.

Writing gave me the confidence to share my thoughts, experiences, and expertise with authenticity, inspiring others along the way.

It has helped me to see how writing through my blog has the ability to reach and help people to improve and better their lives. And I am so thankful for this opportunity.

16. I Was Able To Diversify My Income

One of the major things the pandemic taught me was never to rely on a single source of income.

And blogging has helped me to learn to diversify my income streams through ads, affiliate marketing, digital products, making my finances more stable and secure.

17. I Was Able To Acquire New Skills

Blogging challenged me to step outside my comfort zone. I learned new skills like digital marketing, SEO, and content creation.

It also helped me grow personally and helped me to overcame self-doubt and embraced new opportunities.

18. I Found The Freedom to Work From Anywhere

Another big lesson the pandemic taught me was the value of flexibility. Blogging freed me from being tied to a physical location.

Whether I was at home, traveling, or simply enjoying my morning tea, I could work on my business.

Working online allowed me to take control of my schedule.

I could work at my own pace, spend more time with loved ones, dedicate time to causes I care about and prioritize my health and well-being without sacrificing income opportunities and worrying about someone else’s work obligations.

19.I Gained Confidence to Pursue Other Dreams

At the heart of it all, blogging gave me the courage to pursue bigger dreams. It turned my pain into a platform, my struggles into stories, and my knowledge into impact.

It reminded me that even in the darkest times, there’s an opportunity to create something beautiful.

Blogging gave me the confidence to try and explore new things and discover knew skills and potential that I didn’t realize I had.

20. I’ve Created a Legacy for the Future

One of the most fulfilling parts of running my online business is knowing that it’s something I can pass on.

The work I do now has the potential to support my loved ones and make an impact long after I’m gone. Which is a fulfilling parts of running my online business.
